XNGH Memorial & Red Shirt Protest

posted Feb 25, 2021, 8:14 AM by ECV Matuca   [ updated Mar 11, 2021, 9:09 AM ]

Gentlemen! Shortly many of you will be getting a flyer for the Matuca spring “event”. I’m going to explain why we had to do a few changes to our Doins.
First off, this one’s going to be a Bring Your Own Beverage event. The State is not issuing ANY one day likker licenses, so for us to be able to have a gathering, you’ll need to bring your own. We have lowered the rub to compensate. This does beat the hell out of sitting at home…
Second, you’ll notice that I’m not calling it a doins. That’s right, there isn’t going to be an initiation or a dedication. Right now, ANY insurance company isn’t covering anything to do with COVID, and the only way we can have a gathering is to call it a protest. So, that’s what we are doing. This is the first (hopefully never again) Red Shirt Lives Matter Protest and memorial gathering. Our normal initiation involves a lot of close quarters, and I’m not going to risk the Bondshu’s land.
Yep, overnighter! One thing, if you are feeling a bit rough around the edges and have the sniffles, DON'T SHOW UP! And, The state does recommend masks and social distancing, so no swapping spit!
So, come on out to May Rock on April 3rd, and we are going to celebrate the lives of our 3 XNGH’s who have gone on to the Golden Hills this Clamp year.

A note from the new Bug

posted Oct 12, 2020, 8:11 AM by ECV Matuca   [ updated Oct 12, 2020, 8:12 AM ]

The Staff of Relief has been passed on as of yesterday, and I’ll be posting notifications about Events and Happenings both on our website and our Facebook page.  It’s one of my goals to make sure everyone is informed and no Brother gets left behind.

First off, the organizers of the Christmas Parade are facing some challenges   The largest is the fact that the State is not allowing them to close Hwy 49 for the parade.  I’m waiting to hear if they find some other way of making the parade happen, as soon as I know anything, I’ll post it.  I’d love to have a huge turnout.  If anyone hears anything, let me know.

Second, and this is a tough one.  The Widder’s ball has been postponed until December 2021.  Bart and I will split the duties for it, once it comes.  We are still hoping that the Sweethearts ball will proceed, it depends on the ability to get a building, Likker license, and Insurance.

Now the good news.  Our Illustrious Webmaster has been doing Plaque cleanups and has another one scheduled for this coming Sunday the 18th of October.  Meet at Inspiration Point, 10 am, come give Brian a hand.  We will then proceed into Columbia for more plaque maintenance and then cook some burgers/dogs at the Native Son’s hall.   One thing, this is not an “officially sanctioned” Matuca Chapter ECV event, so supply your own beverages.

Alright Brothers,
Summer is upon us and this year we'll be dedicating Boone's Memorials. This doins' will be dedicated to our own Chris Chase, honoring his lifelong commitment to history, and his generous support to Matuca Chapter 1849. Doins' will be June 7th-9th at the Sonora Fairgrounds and the dedication will take place at Boone's Memorials Saturday June 8th at 9:18am & 49 seconds. What says the Bretheren?

Matuca 1849 Chili Cook-Off & Hawkers Faire

posted Feb 27, 2019, 12:31 PM by ECV Matuca   [ updated Jul 15, 2019, 8:51 AM ]

Attention all Clampers in good standing!

You are hereby invited to attend Clamper history in the making.  An experiment in bean-ocracy.  I ’m talking about the F.F.B. of 1849. The Fantastic Flatulent Brotherhood of Matuca 1st ever, possibly annual, possibly last, summer chili & bean cook-off and Hawkers fair.

Where you ask? At the Mother Lode Fairgrounds located in the beautiful gold rush town of Sonora, CA. Queen of the Southern Mines.

When you ask? Saturday August 10th 2019/6024.

Why you ask? Because Matuca has nothin’ to do in August.

This is an outdoor event but it will be held in the shade of the fabulous livestock area hay barn! Overnight camping is available for a chapter donation. Little Slippery will be flowing from opening til we’re done, probably about 3:00 pm. There will be a raffle and auction and all the frivolity and flatulence an asshole can take, and that could be stretching it.

Also, this is a once in a lifetime Clampurtunity to become a charter member of the Matuca F.F.A.. For a mere pittance of a price to be determined later, you will receive a certificate of authenticity proclaiming your charter membership in The Frivolous Flatulating Assholes of Matuca. Suitable for framing.

Ok, so whats the rub??
